WHY I AM RUNNING
Hello! My name is Jon Mallo and I am running for Loveland City Council, Ward 4. Since announcing my candidacy, I have heard from many people wishing good luck and offering their support. This is not only humbling but energizes me even more. I thank you!
Why vote for me? My life’s 43 years of national and international business experience gives me a significant level of insight with unique expertise and skills. I offer a fresh perspective and a level-headed, logical demeanor. I’m hungry for personal challenge and growth, so really look forward to researching local issues and hearing various points of view. Recently retired, I have loads of time. When a couple of long-time local business leaders approached me about running for council, I knew I didn’t want to run against long-time Ward 4 councilor, Dave Clark; but when Dave decided not to run again the opportunity presented itself. I could step out in a new capacity to repay the awesome city that has been my home.
So far, my volunteer efforts in Loveland have included various church service projects, Habitat for Humanity build sites, and participation in 4 non-profit boards and commissions involving affordable housing and elder care. For the past 2-4 years I have witnessed an increase in conflict among the members of the current Loveland City Council. This pattern of arguing throughout precious meeting time has resulted in failure to complete meeting agendas and conduct our city’s business. There is a more encouraging path to better serve the people of Loveland. We can be constructive and enjoy all views to achieve good results. Forty-three years of professional meetings taught me something!
My wife, Kathy, and I chose Loveland as our home in 2008. To back up a little … between 1987-89 we welcomed the birth of 3 babies while living in the Denver metro area. Then, in 1994, a good job advancement took our young family to the Kansas City area for 14 years. All the while, we knew we wanted to come back to Colorado someday. My job required travel half the time so the only restriction to moving was that I needed to be within an hour or so of a major airport. Northern Colorado piqued our interest and we quickly decided on Loveland due to its charm and location. This is the right time and the right place for me to serve the community I love. I’m very excited at the possibilities. Please vote for me on November 2nd.
You have my promise to give it my all! Thank you!
